Description
Fish with an oval-shaped and flat body, with both eyes on the same side, the head is small and rounded. The colour of the right side has different brown tones, changing colour according to the place where they live.
It lives on sandy and mud bottoms, from the coastal waters to depths of approximately 100 m. It feeds on worms, molluscs and small crustaceans.
Its length ranges between 30 and 45 cm, and its weight between 1 and 2 kg, with a maximum of 3 kg.
The spawning season takes place between January and August.
It is captured with a trammel.
Its meat is exquisite. It is a highly appreciated fish in our coasts.
