GROUPER

Description

Fish with a big head and very powerful teeth. Its back has a tan colour, the sides and belly are brown with small yellowish spots.

It usually lives in depths between 80 and 150 m, with a maximum depth of 200 m. It feeds on fish and sometimes on molluscs or crustaceans.

Its length ranges from 0.8 to 1.2 m, with a weight of 3 to 10 kg, but it can reach 40 kg in weight and 1.5 m in length.

It is captured with longlines.
