Description
It is a fish with a long body and a voluminous, triangular head with ridges and spines.
A part of its pectoral fins act as long fingers, adapted to “walk” through the sea bottom or to look for food. The other part is large and has a very bright colour, with a violet garnet background and many bright blue spots; the back is reddish and the belly and sides are whitish.
It lives on muddy and sandy sea bottoms, located in depths between 25 and 300 m.
It is a fish with lengths between 20 and 35 cm and 6 kg in weight.
Its spawning season is from June to August.
It is captured with different gear: Dragnet, trammel and longline.
