Description
A large-mouth fish, with a high and very flat body. Its back has a whitish-greenish-grey colour with silver highlights, and the sides and belly are lighter in colour.
It is a pelagic species, it lives in the open seas, although it can approach the coast in certain circumstances.
A carnivorous and very voracious fish that feeds on all kinds of fish, hunting with great speed and dexterity.
Its spawning season is in spring, near the coasts.
It can reach lengths of 200 cm and 50 kg of weight.
Its meat is highly appreciated, even though it is not a very abundant species.
It is captured with different gear: Trammel, fixed gillnets and longline.
