Description
It is a mollusc with a short, globose body, with a warty upper part and very large eyes. There are eight tentacles around the mouth with two rows of suction disks. The colour varies according to where they live, with predominant reddish and brown tones.
It lives on rock sea bottoms in depths between 1 and 25 m, where we can find them inside burrows and hiding places. It feeds on crabs and molluscs, but it eats almost any animal it can capture.
In case of danger, like all octopuses in general, they eject a dark liquid, the ink, which serves to hide them.
Its spawning season is from March to September.
It is captured with different gear: Fish traps y dragnet.
